July 31, 2024 – Vietnam Airlines has today taken delivery of its 5th Boeing 787-10 aircraft. It is also the 30th wide-body aircraft joining the carrier’s growing fleet and will further enhance the carrier’s position in Vietnam’s aviation industry. Vietnam Airlines marked the milestone by organizing a grand celebration at Noi Bai International Airport.
The 787-10 Dreamliner has the largest size in the Boeing 787 family with a length of over 68 meters, a payload of 56-60 tons and can cover a maximum distance of nearly 12,000 km. The aircraft has a two-class configuration with 24 seats in Business Class and 343 seats in Economy Class.
Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, said: “Being a flag carrier of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines is committed to upgrading and expanding our fleet. We aim not only to provide the highest levels of passenger comfort but also to fulfill our mission of connecting Vietnam with the world, therefore significantly supporting economic and social development."
The Boeing 787-10 boasts a range of technological advancements and modern amenities tailored to enhance passenger experience. Highlights include spacious cabin, comfortable seats, large overhead bin and windows, modern entertainment system, adjustable LED lighting, lower cabin altitude, cleaner air, higher humidity, improved temperature control…
The Business Cabin of the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner has a staggered herringbone layout, with direct aisle access, giving passengers a more private and comfortable space. It has fully convertible flat-bed seats, with a generous seat pitch and reclining seats up to 180 degrees which make it perfect for long-haul journeys. Passengers appreciate other convenient features namely personal entertainment devices with touch screens, an array of entertainment options, dimmable windows with five settings, reading lights, USB ports, and spacious footrest and compartments.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner has outstanding operational and fuel efficiency and is designed to be more environmentally friendly than previous generations of aircraft, with 25% lower fuel consumption and emissions.
Vietnam Airlines currently operates nearly 100 aircraft, including 5 Boeing 787-10s, 11 Boeing 787-9s, and 14 Airbus A350s in its wide-body category.
The airline mainly deploys wide-body aircraft on flights to Northeast Asia, Europe, Australia, and the US, as well as between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The ongoing fleet expansion allows Vietnam Airlines to effectively accommodate passenger demand during peak periods, which is important given aircraft shortage following engines being recalled on a global scale.
Fleet modernisation underscores Vietnam Airlines' continued efforts to elevate passenger experience and meet international 5-star standards.
