How to upgrade/maintain your Lotusmiles card tier?

During a qualifying period, a Lotusmiles account needs to earn enough qualifying miles or flights to maintain its current card tier or upgrade to a higher tier. The new tier card will be valid for 12 months from the month of renewal or upgrade.

The insufficient qualifying miles/flights can be supplemented in the two following forms:

In the event of a card upgrade, the Lotusmiles program will deliver a new card to the member within 5 days if the card receiver address is in Vietnam and 20 days if the card receiver address is outside of Vietnam.

Purchasing Lotusmiles qualifying miles/flights

Lotusmiles members who purchase additional qualifying miles or flights should be aware that:

  • The insufficient qualifying miles/flights can be purchased for the current month or a month earlier on the Vietnam Airlines website or app. In other circumstances, please:
  • Purchased qualifying miles/flights are valid for card qualification purposes and non-refundable under any circumstances;
  • Purchased qualifying miles can be used for getting awards;
  • In the event that the qualifying miles or flights are acquired as a gift, the buyer must confirm that he or she obtained the recipients' consent;
  • If a recipient refuses to accept the gifted card and miles/flights, the person must notify the Lotusmiles Center and return the card within 30 days of receipt. If a refusal notification is received, the Lotusmiles Center will either downgrade the recipient's membership tier to its initial status or close the account.

Charges for purchasing qualifying miles/flights

Qualifying miles:

Qualifying miles are sold in plans of 1,000 miles:

  • Pricing in Vietnam (VAT exclusive): VND 2,200,000/1,000 miles
  • Pricing outside Vietnam: USD 100/1,000 miles

Qualifying flights:

  • Pricing in Vietnam (VAT exclusive): VND 2,200,000/flight
  • Pricing outside Vietnam: USD 100/flight

Converting Lotusmiles bonus miles for tier qualification purposes

Lotusmiles members who convert bonus miles to qualifying miles or flights should be aware that:

  • The converted bonus miles are only valid for tier qualifying and non-refundable under any circumstances;
  • The maximum amount of qualifying miles/flights for conversion is 20,000 qualifying miles or 20 qualifying flights per calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

Charges for converting bonus miles to qualifying miles/flights

Bonus miles are converted by plan. Each plan is worth 1,000 qualifying miles or 1 qualifying flight.

In Vietnam:

  • 15,000 bonus miles = 1,000 qualifying miles or 1 qualifying flight
  • Conversion charge: VND 210,000 per transaction (VAT exclusive)

Outside Vietnam:

  • 15,000 bonus miles = 1,000 qualifying miles or 1 qualifying flight
  • Conversion charge: USD 10 per transaction
