Air tickets

To check in at an airport, a passenger must have a valid air ticket. Air tickets can be in hard copy or electronic form. Passengers who use electronic tickets must show the tickets provided to them via email or stored in the iPhone's Wallet application.


Travel documents

The travel documents listed below must be original, valid, and with photos. In the case of using birth certificates and birth documents, the documents must be the originals or notarized copies according to legal regulations.

Non-Vietnamese nationalities

Passengers should prepare documents or electronic data with equivalent validity as follows:

  • Passport (with the most recent entry verification stamp) or valid international travel document (with the most recent entry verification stamp) and documents related to residence in Vietnam such as visa, permanent residence card, temporary residence card, and APEC business travel card (except in cases of visa exemption);
  • Identity cards issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to members of diplomatic missions, consular agencies, and representatives of international organizations;
  • International driving license or driving license issued by Vietnamese competent agencies;
  • Cards such as long-term airport/port security control cards, identification cards of Vietnamese airlines;
  • Level 2 Electronic Identification Account of the Passengers.

In case of passport loss:

  • Passengers must have a diplomatic note from the diplomatic/consular agency of their home country, or an official dispatch from the Foreign Affairs Department (verified by the local police agency where they lost their passports). The diplomatic note or official dispatch should verify the passenger's identification and passport loss;
  • The official note or dispatch should have a photo and affixed seal;
  • After the date of confirmation, the official letter or dispatch verifying identity and lost passport will be valid for 30 days.

Vietnamese nationality

Passengers aged 14 and over should carry one of the following documents or electronic data with equivalent validity:

  • Identity card (applied until December 31, 2024), citizen identification;
  • Police or military Identity card;
  • Passport or travel pass;
  • Loose-leaf visa, permanent residence card, temporary residence card;
  • Driving license issued by Vietnamese competent agencies;
  • Card types: National Assembly delegate cards, party membership cards, journalist cards, National Civil Aviation Security Committee cards, identification cards of Vietnam Airlines, and airport security control cards with long-term validity;
  • Personal identity certification by local police or authorities containing the following information: Confirmation agency, confirming person; date, month, year of confirmation; the full name, date of birth, gender, place of origin, permanent residence of the person confirmed; reason for confirmation. The above certifying documents must be attached with a stamped portrait photo and are valid within 30 days after the date of confirmation.
  • Certification by competent authorities about passenger‘s court judgment completion (if available);
  • Level 2 Electronic Identification Account of Passengers on the VNeID application.

Passengers under 14 years old and from 14 years old to over 14 years old for no more than 20 days should carry one of the following documents or electronic data with equivalent validity:

  • Identity card (applied until December 31, 2024), citizen identification;
  • Passport or child included passport;
  • Original birth certificate or certified and valid copy of birth certificate;
  • For under 02-month-old infants with no birth certificates, notifications of birth are required;
  • Excerpt of birth certificate (Excerpt of birth information);
  • Extract of civil status or document confirming civil status information;
  • Certifying document by a social organization for children under the patronage of that organization (only valid within 6 months from the date of confirmation);
  • Personal identity certification by local police or authorities containing the following information: Confirmation agency, confirming person; date, month, year of confirmation; the full name, date of birth, gender, place of origin, permanent residence of the person confirmed; reason for confirmation. The above certifying documents must be attached with a stamped portrait photo and are valid within 30 days after the date of confirmation.
  • Passenger's level 2 electronic identification account; if no separate account exists, present the level 2 electronic identification account of the accompanying parent/guardian, which contains the passenger's personal information.
