A piece of checked baggage standard is as follows:
If passengers need to carry more baggage than the free baggage standards, There are two options as follows:
1. Purchase up to 15 pieces of prepaid baggage at a preferential rate at least 3 hours before departure at: www.vietnamairlines.com website or mobile app during the booking or at Manage Booking once the ticket has been issued; - Vietnam Airlines’ sales offices or and agents. Prepaid baggage is offered for flights operated by Vietnam Airlines and Pacific Airlines (except for flights operated by ATR 72) with Vietnam Airlines' tickets (738).
2. Purchase baggage when checking in at the airport.
If your carry-on baggage exceeds the allowed quantity, weight and dimensions, the baggage must be checked. On some routes, large carry-on baggages that do meet the standards may still need to be checked in at the gate free of charge due to limited space of overhead bins in the cabin (particularly for ATR 72 or A321 aircrafts).
1. Weight: - Business Class: 32kg/70lb - Premium Economy/Economy: 23kg/50lb
2. Size: the total dimension (width + height + depth) of each piece must not exceed 158cm/62in If the weight of a piece of checked baggage exceeds the above standard, passengers will be required to re-pack their baggage and pay an excess baggage fee or consider sending their baggage as cargo. Carry-on baggage for children under two years of age should not exceed 3kg (including food, milk, and nappy) and one compact stroller/cradle that fits inside an aircraft baggage compartment. If carry-on baggage compartments are out of place, strollers/cradles are transported as checked baggage (free of charge).
