Cabin baggage

A passenger may purchase one or more seats next to his/hers on the same ticket class to carry special, fragile, breakable, delicate and valuable baggage such as musical instruments, antique paintings or vases, etc.

Standard for cabin baggage

The cabin baggage must follow the following weight and size:

  • The cabin baggage weight must not exceed 75 kg per seat, and the pressure on the seat must not exceed 0.046 kg/cm2 (75 kg on 40cm x 40cm area).
  • Maximum cabin baggage size:
    1. ○ For Boeing B787, Airbus A350, A321: 40cm x 50cm x 160cm.
      ○ For aircraft ATR72: 40cm x 50cm x 95cm.

Charges

The charge for an extra seat for baggage equals 100% of the applicable adult fare plus Vietnam Airlines’ surcharges for each additional seat at the time of purchase.

Service booking

Passengers wishing to purchase an additional seats to stow belongings should contact Vietnam Airlines branch offices for advanced reservations. It is required to make the service request at least 24 hours before departure time.

Packaging

Cabin baggage must be securely packaged to ensure there are no sharp edges or other characteristics that might damage or puncture the seats, interior walls, other areas in the aircraft, or that could pose a risk to passengers and cabin crew members during flight.

Counter check-in

Cabin baggage does not contain dangerous items and must undergo security checks like normal carry-on baggage.

Vietnam Airlines recommends passengers to be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure to ensure sufficient flight check-in time.

On flight

Passengers are responsible for handling their baggage at the airport, during the flight, boarding and deboarding the aircraft.
