From Vietnam to Malaysia

Before departure, passengers need to fully prepare the necessary documents required for flying from Vietnam to international destinations, such as air tickets, valid passports, and forms of identification. In addition, passengers flying from Vietnam to Malaysia should be aware of the following document requirements. 


Passport

Passengers entering Malaysia must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.


Visa

Vietnamese citizens are exempt from visas to enter Malaysia for stays of no more than 30 days. Malaysia allows visa-free entry to many countries; nevertheless, some require a visa to enter. For further information, please visit the Visa Requirements by Country website.

Vietnamese citizens staying for more than 30 days or requiring a Malaysian visa should visit the entry requirements page and follow the instructions.


Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)

From January 1, 2024, foreign passengers (including Vietnamese) are required to fill in the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within 03 days before entering Malaysia, except for the following cases:

  • Singaporean passengers;
  • Passengers with diplomatic or official passports;
  • Passengers who are permanent residents of Malaysia or have a long-term pass;
  • Passengers holding a Brunei Darussalam General Certificate of Identity (GCI);
  • Brunei Malaysia frequent traveler facility holders;
  • Passengers holding Thailand border crossing cards;
  • Passengers holding Indonesia cross-border travel documents (PLB).

Passengers must present their passport and the completed MDAC to the immigration officer upon arrival at the airport and ensure that the passport or travel document has been verified before leaving the immigration counter.


Quarantine regulations

Currently, passengers entering Malaysia are not required to take a COVID-19 test or proof of immunization. 


Cash regulations

According to regulations, if you enter Malaysia with cash worth USD 10,000 or more, you must disclose it to customs.

Regulations on food, meat, and plants

Food, meat

Malaysia has tight regulations for bringing food, meat, or plants into the country. Passengers can visit the Food Import Registration website if they want to bring the following foods into Malaysia:

  • Poultry meat and its products
  • Ruminant meat and its products (such as beef, lamb, mutton, chevron, and venison)
  • Rabbit meat/products
  • Milk and dairy products
  • Eggs and egg-based products

Plants include crops and agricultural materials

All plants and their parts intended for propagation, ornamental purposes, processing, or consumption must be declared and controlled upon entry into Malaysia, including: Soil, growing medium, root fertilizer, beneficial organisms for agriculture, and pests.

Types of agricultural materials that require a phytosanitary certificate and import permit before import: Plants, plant parts used for propagation purposes, soil, growing medium and root fertilizers, and agricultural organisms.
